Vintage Japanese Woven Bamboo Hanging Ikebana Basket

A slim, hand-woven bamboo basket made to hang on a wall or post and hold a few stems. In Japan this is called a kakehanaire, a hanging flower vase used for ikebana and in the tea room. The open hexagonal weave, tightly wrapped rims and twisted hanging cord are all done by hand.

Slip a small glass tube inside for fresh flowers, add a branch or dried grasses, or hang it empty as a piece of woven art.
