A brass bell with a pewter sailor for a handle, cap on, rope in hand. An odd pairing that somehow works.
The original clapper is still in it and it rings clearly rather than clunking, which is not a given with old bells. It isn't obviously a Christmas object either, so it can sit with the rest of the brass all year and get rung at dinner in December.
