A 1976 hand-stitched needlepoint depicting three women — one facing forward, two in profile — rendered in fine petit point against a deep navy ground. The palette is cool and deliberately unconventional: teal, lavender, and blush pink with dark navy accents, a combination that reads as sophisticated rather than decorative. The stitching density is exceptional throughout, with careful modulation of tone used to suggest volume and hair texture in a medium that doesn't make that easy.
The piece is signed in the lower right with a circled monogram — the mark of the person who made it. Signed needlepoint is uncommon. Most makers didn't sign their work; the ones who did were treating it as art, not craft.
Set in its original polished chrome frame under glass — a frame choice that would have been considered modern and deliberate in 1976 and still holds up now.
