Painter P. Rodwin reinterprets Marie-Denise Villers's 1801 masterpiece Young Woman Drawing — now in the collection of The Metropolitan Museum of Art — in this mid-century oil. A blonde sitter in a violet Empire-style gown turns from her sketchpad to meet the viewer's gaze, soft daylight spilling through a riverside window. Rodwin simplifies the neoclassical architecture into planes of teal and umber, letting the lilac folds and reflective waterway take center stage.
The 19" × 15" canvas is set in a linen liner within a carved antique-gold wood frame. Ready to hang.
