A statement piece from a collection of French copper. The body is hand-hammered copper, big and rounded, dressed in brass at every turn: a domed, ribbed lid with a knob finial, an arched brass carry handle, a ribbed brass foot, and a cast brass spout modeled as a bird's head with an open beak. A little chain tethers the lid so it stays with the jug. The interior is tin-lined with the darkening you'd expect from age and use. It reads beautifully on a hearth, an island, or a big table, on its own or filled with tall branches.
