An original 1970 campaign button for James L. Buckley's run for U.S. Senate from New York, the flag-and-name design from his Conservative Party campaign. Buckley won that race on the Conservative line, the first third-party candidate to win a Senate seat in 40 years, and the American flag imagery was central to his campaign's appeal. Brother of William F. Buckley Jr. Red lettering and flag on a cream ground, clean and simple. Light age toning, pin intact. A real piece of New York and third-party political history.
