Blue and White Hand Painted Duck Box, Lidded Ceramic

Lidded ceramic duck box, hand painted in cobalt on white. The body lifts off at the wing line, so the whole bird is a container. Layered scale feathering across the chest, long brushed flight feathers down the back, and a painted eye with lashes.

Chinese export style. The unglazed foot and rim show the raw clay, which is how these were traditionally finished.

Good on a dresser for rings and small things, on a desk for paper clips, or just sitting on a shelf being a duck.
