Vintage Chinese Fisherman Wood Carving – Removable Hat, Red Cedar, 12″ Tall

A red cedar figure of a Chinese fisherman, an old man caught mid-stride with the day's catch, his beard flowing and his robe knotted, topped by a little straw-style hat that lifts right off. The knife-work is confident and full of movement, the kind of folk carving that has real character in it. Set him on a shelf or an entry table and he holds his own as a small, soulful sculpture.
