Antique Tinned Copper Charger with Raised Center and Hanging Ring

A big, beautiful antique copper charger, hand-raised and tinned in the old way. The wide brim is worked all over with rows of hand-punched dots, and the center rises to a domed boss, so it reads as sculpture whether it's lying flat or hung on the wall. There's a copper ring on the back for hanging. The tin has worn to soft, cloudy silver over the copper, the kind of surface only real age and use produce. The form belongs to the Ottoman and Middle Eastern tradition of tinned copper trays. A quiet showstopper over a mantel, a sideboard, or a bed.
