Antique Majolica Jardiniere & Pedestal Set, Oxblood Red with Striped Base

A two-piece majolica jardiniere and pedestal in that unmistakable turn-of-the-century palette. The pedestal wears deep oxblood red panels tipped in cream over a treacle-brown ground and a boldly striped flaring foot; the round jardiniere that sits on top pools in a glossy near-black glaze that breaks warm brown where the light catches it. Both are thickly hand-dipped and kiln-fired the old way, full of the ripples and drips no reproduction gets right.

Sold together as the set they were meant to be. Stand it in a bay window or an entry with a fern spilling over the top, or leave it empty and let the color and the height do the work. Stacked it stands about 25 inches.

Very good antique condition throughout. Bright glaze on both pieces with only minor age wear and the small firing imperfections original to majolica. Sturdy and stable.
