Antique Hand-Forged Tinned Copper Ewer with Long Spout

A genuinely old piece with a lot of soul. This ewer was raised by hand from copper, seamed and soldered, and lined with tin in the old way. The tin has worn back to bright copper over its long life, leaving the silvery, cloud-like patches that only real age gives. It has a tall body on a straight base, a dramatic long pouring spout, a crimped rim, and a scrolled handle that finishes in a little hooked thumb-rest. The form belongs to the Ottoman and Middle Eastern water-vessel tradition. Unmarked, as these hand-made pieces almost always are. Decorative now rather than watertight, so let it hold dried stems or simply stand on its own as sculpture.
