Vintage Brass Candlesticks

Shop home decor

Vintage brass chamberstick candle holders with maple leaf cutouts at loom vintage

Solid brass candlesticks are one of those gifts that work in almost any home and only look better the longer they sit somewhere. They bring warmth to a mantle, a dining table, a bookshelf, and they're the kind of thing she'd never buy herself but always notices in someone else's home.

I carry a rotating range of heights and styles, and they are one of the most gifted things in the shop for good reason.

Buy a mismatched pair at two different heights rather than a matching set. It looks more considered, which it is.

Vintage glassware, a set she'll actually use

Shop kitchen and table

Vintage Italian green glass wine decanter with ice chamber and stopper at loom vintage

Etched wine glasses, hand-blown cordials, gold-rimmed coupes, Depression glass in soft pinks and greens. Vintage glassware is one of the most giftable things I carry. A set of vintage wine glasses from the 1960s costs a fraction of new crystal and is far more interesting. Every dinner party is better when the glasses have a story.

Pair with chocolates from BE Chocolat at 75 Hillside Road in Fairfield. Wrap them in a vintage serving dish and you have a complete gift without much effort.

Vintage Framed Artwork

Calder signed floral and fruit still-life oil on canvas at loom vintage

A framed vintage painting is the gift that genuinely changes a room. I carry original oils, watercolors, needlepoints and lithographs. Florals, coastal scenes, portraits, botanicals. Every piece is one of a kind.

Pious Bird of Good Omen
2960 Fairfield Ave, Bridgeport · Black Rock

Vintage art, furniture, crystals and goods sourced from all over. Desiree was friendly and encouraging to me when loom was new on Fairfield Avenue. Worth a trip to Bridgeport in its own right.

Florals and coastal pieces are the most versatile. Not sure what to pick? Text me and I'll help you find the right one for her space.

A Natural Fiber Clothing Piece

Shop the wardrobe

Vintage black suede beaded-hem slip dress at loom vintage

Vintage linen shirts, wool blazers, cashmere cardigans, silk blouses. Clothing made from natural fibers is built better than almost anything new today. For a mom building a wardrobe with more intention and less waste, a well-chosen vintage piece is one of the most thoughtful things you can give her.

Not sure of her size? The accessories, meaning scarves and bags and jewelry, are a safe and equally meaningful choice.

05

Breakfast at Isabelle et Vincent

Isabelle et Vincent
1903 Post Rd, Fairfield CT · Open daily 6am–4pm · isabelleetvincentbakery.com

A traditional French bakery that's been a Fairfield landmark since 2008. Croissants, macarons, tarts, baguettes, specialty cakes, all made from scratch using traditional French recipes. A gift card here means she can have a proper French breakfast on her terms, whenever she wants it.

Or just take her there on the day. Order coffee and sit down. It's one of the nicer things you can do for someone on a Sunday morning.

06

A Gift Card to Privá MedSpa

Privá MedSpa
23 Sherman St, Fairfield CT · privamedspa.com

This is where I go. A boutique medspa with real clinical expertise and a warm, unhurried atmosphere. I see Melissa there. She has over 30 years of experience and the results are natural, never overdone.

A gift card here is one of the most genuinely indulgent things you can give a mom who spends her time taking care of everyone else. It's the gift that says you see her, not just as a mom but as a person who deserves to feel good.

07

A Blowout at Modern Salon

Modern Salon
Fairfield, CT · modernsalonfairfield.com

A boutique salon with serious technique. Melissa brings over 27 years of experience, trained in New York City, and is a L'Oréal Color Ambassador. A gift card for a blowout is something most moms genuinely wouldn't book for themselves. They also do private events, and the salon can be reserved for a group.

Make it a morning. Blowout at Modern Salon, pastries at Isabelle et Vincent, lunch at Molto, gelato at Oggi. A full Mother's Day in downtown Fairfield, most of it walkable.

08

Candles from NaturalAnnie Essentials

NaturalAnnie Essentials
Bridgeport, CT · naturalannieessentials.com

Locally poured candles from Bridgeport with scents that stay with you. Pineapple sage, mango coconut, cashmere plum. Candles people actually burn rather than save for a special occasion that never arrives.

Pair with a set of vintage brass candlesticks or a single ornate candleholder. The combination makes a complete gift that doesn't look assembled from two places.

09

A Good Book from Black Rock Books

Black Rock Books
3030 Fairfield Ave, Bridgeport · blackrockbooksct.com

A small independent bookstore on Fairfield Avenue with a well-chosen selection and regular author events. Ask for a recommendation based on what she loves.

10

Lunch at Molto

Molto
1215 Post Rd, Fairfield CT · Open daily from 11:30am · pizzeriamolto.com

Right in the Brick Walk, steps from the shop. Handmade pasta, good pizza, a 40-foot marble bar, a patio in warm weather, Italian films on the walls. Take her for lunch after a morning of shopping. I get the lobster ravioli every time.

11

Gelato at Oggi

Oggi
1499 Post Rd, Fairfield CT · oggigelato.com

Not ice cream. Gelato, and the difference matters. Dense, slow-churned Italian gelato in flavors that change with the season. The easy ending to a perfect Mother's Day in Fairfield.

Whatever you choose, the best Mother's Day gift is one that shows you thought about her specifically. Vintage does that almost automatically. There is no such thing as a generic vintage piece, which means there is no such thing as a generic vintage gift.

The shop is at 1139 Post Road in the Brick Walk, Fairfield, open again September 1st. If you want help finding the right thing for someone specific, text me. It is one of my favorite parts of this.
