Signed J.S. Ebersol ’66, this petite Pennsylvania footstool captures mid-century Amish folk-art charm. The maple top is hand-painted with a joyful spray of tulips, greens, and sunshine-yellow swirls—motifs reminiscent of Pennsylvania-Dutch hex signs—then framed by black and ochre pin-striping that continues down each turned leg. Sturdy mortise-and-tenon joinery lets the stool moonlight as a plant stand, low side table, or whimsical riser on kitchen counters.
Measurements
Approximately 7 inches tall × 12 inches wide × 7 inches deep
Condition
Solid and level with tight joints. Surface shows scattered paint flakes and light scratches from honest use; colors remain bright and glossy.
Styling Notes
- Cottagecore vignette: Park it by a wing chair and stack quilted throws on top—the floral boarder echoes vintage chintz and ticking stripes.
- Kitchen helper: Use as a step-up to high cupboards, then slide under an island when not in use.
- Plant perch: Let a trailing pothos spill over the painted bouquet for an instant splash of living color.
