The process

How Consignment Works at Loom

Loom is a curated shop — standards are high and consistent. If you have the right things, this is a straightforward process with a fair split and no guesswork.

For home decor we're looking for genuine vintage quality. For clothing and accessories, the requirement is natural fibers — linen, wool, silk, cotton, cashmere. Vintage is a bonus, not a requirement.

Not sure what you have? Text a photo and we'll tell you honestly what's worth consigning, what to donate, and what to let go.

Standards

What We Take — and What We Don't

Patina, minor scratches, and wear are part of what makes vintage beautiful. What we can't work with is damage that affects function or makes something unsanitary.

We Take

  • Solid brass — candlesticks, bowls, planters, trays, hardware
  • Vintage glassware — etched, colored, hand-blown, gold-rimmed
  • Original art — oils, watercolors, needlepoint, lithographs
  • Ceramics — studio pottery, earthenware, decorative vessels
  • Vintage lighting — table lamps, sconces, floor lamps with good bones
  • Solid wood furniture — well-made, structurally sound, no veneer damage
  • Natural fiber clothing & accessories — linen, wool, silk, cotton, cashmere in excellent condition
  • Vintage mirrors — ornate frames, interesting shapes, no foxing
  • Woven baskets and natural objects in clean, display-ready condition

We Don't Take

  • Structural damage — broken legs, deep cracks, missing components
  • Heavy staining on clothing or textiles
  • Synthetic fabrics — polyester, acrylic, nylon, or non-natural blends
  • Fast furniture — particle board, veneer damage, wobbling joints
  • Strong odor — smoke, mildew, or pet that won't wash out
  • Reproductions or items that aren't genuinely vintage
  • Oversized or heavily damaged art
  • Everyday mass-market items with no vintage or artisan quality
  • Items that are unsanitary or haven't been cleaned

Not sure if your piece is right for Loom? Text a photo to 203-307-5385 before bringing anything in. We'll give you an honest answer — whether it's worth consigning here, better for donation, or something to let go of.

Terms

The Terms

Simple, fair, and consistent.

Payment Split

40% to you — paid via Venmo or mailed check at the end of each month. Prefer store credit? We offer 50% instead. Payouts must be requested by you; we'll reach out for items selling $500+.

Pricing

Loom sets all prices thoughtfully — for value, not just speed. After 30 days unsold, we may adjust by ~15%. Third-party platform fees (10–30%) are deducted before calculating your payout.

Consignment Term

Items are consigned for 60 days. After that, you have 7 days to request a return. Items not retrieved become Loom's property to sell, donate, or use at our discretion.

Drop-Off

1–10 items during shop hours, no appointment needed. 11 or more? Text to reserve a window. Large furniture needs photo approval first — text every angle before bringing it in.

Sales Channels

Items may be sold in-store, on Instagram, or listed on Etsy, eBay, Chairish, and Facebook Marketplace — wherever they'll reach the right buyer.

Estates & Clean-Outs

Handling a full estate or whole-house clean-out? Text us overview photos and we'll come to you.
